Reformer Pilates
Mat Pilates
Pilates with Joyce focuses on creating a balanced and uplifting movement experience.
Classes combine:
• Stretch and strength in equal measure
• Breath-led, controlled movement
• Dynamic yet mindful flows
• A welcoming and encouraging atmosphere
The goal is simple: to leave each class feeling stronger, energised, and glowing.
Both Reformer and Mat Pilates follow the same core Pilates principles — focusing on strength, control, alignment, and breath-led movement. The main difference lies in the equipment used.
Reformer Pilates
• Performed on a specialised machine called the Reformer
• Uses spring resistance and straps to support and challenge the body
• Allows for a wider range of exercises and movement variations
Mat Pilates
• Performed on the floor using a Pilates mat
• Uses your body weight as the main form of resistance
• Focuses strongly on core strength, stability, and control
Both styles complement each other beautifully and help build strength, flexibility, and body awareness in different ways.
Many people enjoy practising both Reformer and Mat Pilates as they each offer a slightly different challenge while supporting the same Pilates foundations.
